Keep Cool/RCA Records

A number of new singles arrived in our inbox this week, so many that it’s a bit tough to whittle down the list.

This week we have tracks from a few recognizable names and some up-and-comers.

Normani debuts a new single, Jorja Smith and Burna Boy give us something to enjoy, and Doja Cat’s new video puts fruit front and center.

Here’s a shortlist of the singles we loved this week.

Normani – “Motivation”

What did Normani do? THAT. The singer’s debut single is a nostalgia-filled tribute to the late 90s-early 2000s videos we loved. “Motivation” is all the motivation we need to stan.

Jorja Smith – “Be Honest” ft. Burna Boy

British singer Jorja Smith has tapped Burna Boy for her new single, “Be Honest,” Smith’s first single since the release of her debut album, Lost & Found. The steamy video, directed by Amber Grace Johnson, sees Smith trying to cool off and zooming around the city as she sings about honesty in a relationship.

Michael Kiwanuka – “You Ain’t The Problem”

You may recognize Michael Kiwanuka as the artist behind “Cold Little Lies,” the single which became the theme song for HBO’s Big Little Lies. If you still haven’t had the opportunity to dive into Kiwanuka’s music, then the singer’s latest “You Ain’t The Problem” is the perfect place to start.

Arlissa – “Running”

Arlissa goes on the run with singer Lauren Jauregui in her new video for “Running.” With a nod to Thelma & Louise, Arlissa sings about running away from a lover but eventually falling back into their grasp.

Peyton – “laylo/crazy4U”

Earlier this week, up-and-comer Peyton has shared new single “laylo/crazy4U.” Produced by Houston’s Chase of Nazareth, the song sees Peyton juggling the need to share her feelings and remain chill with a crush.

Jean Dawson – “90s Green Screen”

We love everything about Jean Dawson’s latest “90s Green Screen.” The alternative pop singer pairs a reality-bending video—directed by Julian Klincewicz—with what feels like a whimsical track until you take a closer listen.

Wale – “On Chill” ft. Jeremih

Wale taps Jeremih and model Tiana Parker for his video “On Chill.” With a summertime vibe, the video features Wale as the center of attention who only has eyes for one lady.

Common – “Hercules” ft. Swizz Beatz

Common and Swizz Beatz team up for “Hercules.” The song centers on what Hercules is most known for—his strength—with the video featuring a young man’s journey through time, injustice, and personal growth.

Doja Cat – “Juicy” ft. Tyga

Doja Cat delivers again with the video for “Juicy.” Featuring Tyga, the video puts Doja and a number of juicy fruits front and center. But with a closer look, Juicy’s is really a colorful ode to, ahem, the derriére.

Arin Ray – “Change” ft. Kehlani

R&B crooner Arin Ray teams up with Kehlani for “Change.” A nod to classic R&B, Ray said of the track and working with Kehlani, “I’ve known Kehlani for some years now. I’ve always admired her as an artist and even more as a friend. I feel like we’ve got one with this record for sure.”
