Six Tips for Job Interview Success –

Written by admin

Job interviews can be nerve-wracking, but a little preparation can help you put your best foot forward. Here are some tips for your next job interview:

1. Come up with good answers for uncomfortable questions

Interviewers often ask questions such as:

* What are your weaknesses?

* Give me an example of a time you failed.

* What critical feedback do you receive most often?

* What challenges have you faced, and how have you overcome them?

Don’t be afraid to explain your weaknesses or mistakes you’ve made. What your interviewers want to know is whether you can overcome weaknesses, learn from mistakes, and change for the better.

2. Be prepared to talk about what the company does, why you want to work there, and what you can offer

A surprising number of interviewees can’t talk about the company they are interviewing with. Just look at their website and think through how your skills and interests mesh.

3. Know your goals

Whether you are applying to work in the mailroom or the C-suite, be ready to talk about what you want to accomplish over the next one, five and ten years.

4. Prepare some questions for your interviewers

Remember, this is your chance to learn about them. Questions might include:

* Can you tell me about the team I would be on?

* What do you like most and least about working here?

* I see you are working on X project. Can you tell me more about it?

* Imagine I get this job, and it’s now a year later. What do you hope I’ve accomplished?

5. Practice

Sit in front of a mirror and practice your answers to the questions in 1 above. Alternately, have a friend pretend to interview you. The more you practice, the more confident you’ll feel.

6. The interview starts outside the building

With this in mind, be polite and professional to every single person you see. You never know who you might pass on the way to your meeting.

Once you’ve aced the interview, the next step is finding a mentor. Next time, we’ll show you why a mentor can be the key to success.
