This week’s VO School Podcast discusses the principles of direct marketing.

As voice actors, we find projects a variety of ways via agents, online casting, our websites, and networking. Direct marketing is the process of reaching out to clients and production houses, directly! Joining us this week is Tom Dheere, a New York-based voice actor with over 20 years of experience. Dheere has narrated thousands of projects for hundreds of clients in over a dozen countries. His experience as a corporate trainer as well as a voice talent makes him uniquely qualified to help both aspiring and veteran voice talents navigate the voiceover industry. He specializes in marketing and business consultation as well as eLearning and explainer video demo production.

Together we discover who benefits from this direct marketing process, who should be reached out to, how a voice actor goes about it, and some tips to ensure that your emails and phone calls are best received. We also analyze what a good response rate is and workshop some tactics if a talent’s direct marketing efforts aren’t being rewarded.
