Surrounded by seniors ready to launch 3-point shots, Freeland junior Kadyn Blanchard has become the attacker on the Falcons’ girls basketball tournament run.
That strikes Freeland coach Tom Zolinski as a bit funny, since Blanchard’s trek to the varsity highlight reel didn’t follow the usual path for one reason.
“She was too timid,” Zolinski said. “She was a nice player, but she came out of middle school and just kind of let everybody do everything. She wasn’t aggressive.
“What she’s done since then is remarkable.”
