According to Psychology, motivation is described as ‘the wants or needs that direct behavior towards a goal.’
In economics, a need is a basic idea behind survival. Needs can include things like food, water, and shelter according to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Want is an advance step from need. It is a desire that you and I have, a desire of a bigger home, luxurious car, new model of cell phone or a trip around the world. It is completely alright not to meet your wants/desires, but a need is a must. Motivation works as a bridge between a person and his/her wants and needs. Motivation follows the action. You cannot be motivated just by saying ‘ I am motivated’, you gotta take actions to pursue your plan to achieve your wants and needs and so to meet your goals. It is completely impossible to control our thoughts and feelings. But, thankfully, we can all control our actions.
Everything that has happened to you up to this point… your current occupation (whether you love or hate it), your relationships right now (whether you love or hate them), and your body right now (whether you love or hate it) are results of your choices, decisions and actions. I know it can be a tough pill to swallow. But you got to swallow it every day or even multiples times a day. Your life will not change from passive-aggressively blaming everyone and everything around you. Positive changes only happen when you take responsibility and actions including for all the bad, stuck and horrible to good, luck and wonderful.
At some point in your life, you have to take actions until you do, nothing changes and nothing will. Motivation will only come your way when you take action to change your own life. You don’t want to sit peacefully until that burning desire is fulfilled. One thing that I enjoy daily to get my dose of motivation is that I start my day with a motivational video, could be a 2-minute video. You can listen/watch it on repeat or a new video every day before you check emails or social media. Something this small can have a huge impact on our lives.
