San Antonio Airport marketing strategy gets sky high results

The San Antonio International Airport’s service development team continues to market San Antonio and the airport as a prime destination for business and vacationing travelers.

Last months statistics show that their new marketing plan is working. As they continue to attract new travelers, the airport is already on pace to exceed passenger numbers from last year.

For the month of May they had a record number of 840,951 passengers that flew through the airport. That’s a 8.2% increase or 64,000 more passengers than the same time last year.

Mays numbers took off sky high exceeding three million passengers. That’s a 10.1% growth.

Domestically, traffic climbed 8.2% compared to the same time last year while international traffic grew by 8.6%.

More than 23,000,000 pounds of cargo passed through SAT in the month of May and contributed to an 11% increase from year to year.

“Our Air Service Team remains busy meeting with multiple airlines to strengthen our relationship and discuss continued growth, while also engaging with our community and keeping our customer’s needs as a top priority,” said Russ Handy, Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio.

May’s passenger statistics marks the 23rd consecutive month of record growth for SAT.
