Open wounds at Self-Help Commission

The National Commission for Self-Help (NCSH) has been thrown back into the limelight following appearances last month before the Parliament’s Joint Select Committee (JSC) on Public Accounts.

Commission chairman Edgar Zephyrine was directed by JSC chairman Wade Mark to reverse decisions he made regarding the creation of positions at the NCSH. Public Accounts Enterprises Committee (PAEC) member, Labour Minister Jennifer Baptiste-Primus, was reported as saying she was “very troubled,” on hearing that there was acrimony among members of the management and the board at the NCSH and that this had rendered the commission dysfunctional.
